I’m sure you have noticed a theme around here with my fabric choices. I am mostly a thrift store girl. I love to find anything thrifted, but thrifted fabric is the best. I love that thrifted fabric is unique, usually really well made, and I’m giving new life to some unwanted fabric.
Well, the other week April Rhodes sent me a bit of her first line of fabric, Arizona. She just might convert me to a new fabric, actually going to a fabric store kind of buyer! This fabric is be-u-tiful! The colors, they match the colors in my house. These are my go to, comfort colors. My main living area is painted the same color as triangle tokens.
Since these colors match my house so well, I knew right away that I wanted to make a quilt (you can see the progress on instagram) with these fabrics. I decided to use April’s fabrics as little pops of print and interest in a mostly solid quilt. I ordered a handful of Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton solids in coordinating colors and have been mixing in the Arizona fabrics with a few of Carolyn Friedlander’s fabrics. I’m loving how this is coming along. I’m sewing a pineapple quilt, which is time consuming, but I am loving the process. I am a journey type of girl.
Besides the quilt, I wanted to make something out of my new fabrics now. I’ve been in desperate need of a new wallet and knew I could make one. I used as many fabrics from the line as I could and love how this turned out! The wallet is a self drafted pattern. It’s something I’d love to play and tweak a bit and share as a tutorial with you once I get it just right.
Back to April’s fabric…what do you guys think? Pretty awesome stuff, right. Oh, did I tell you a few of the prints are going to be released in knit and voile? I kind of can’t wait!
