Vintage Patterns :: A Giveaway CLOSED

It’s the “most wonderful time of the year”!  Yeah, you can thank me later for getting a Christmas jingle stuck in your head.

But really, it is the most wonderful time of the year!  Mostly because it is Christmastime…but also because it’s GIVEAWAY DAY!  Over at Sew Mama Sew, hundreds of ladies (and maybe a man or two) are giving away handmade items or supplies.

I debated what I wanted to giveaway…what was something special I have to offer?  I am amazingly blessed with vintage patterns.  The thrift store by me has an enormous collection of vintage patterns, fully intact with all the pattern pieces.  And I know not everyone has such easy access to such great patterns!

So I bring to you today, a couple of my favorite patterns that I have sewn up many times.  And I’d love to give them away to you!  I have one girl’s patterns and one women’s pattern, all going to one lucky reader!

Butterick 4831

First is Butterick 4831 in size 12.  I have sewn this pattern 3 times, and it is great!  This is actually the pattern that I sewed my first zip fly with.  And I love the notes from the previous pattern owner on it!  (She even added a little pattern modification, which I followed, making the fly a breeze to sew.)  Here are a few pics of the shorts that I have sewn with this pattern, sizing it down to fit Sweet Pea, and sizing it up to fit me!

floral cuffed shorts Upholstery ShortsThe next pattern is for a women’s dress, Simplicity 5676 in a size 10.

Simplicity 5676This pattern is great too.  When I first sewed this, I thought maybe I didn’t need to add all of the darts in this pattern, but surprisingly those darts are needed (who would have thought)!  Here’s a pic of this pattern all sewn up….love this dress!  (Wore it yesterday to church.)

Knit Sheath DressSo, you are entering to win these two patterns (not the sewn garments).

Autumn is my favorite time of year, but now that it’s passed I’m looking forward to spring! (although, first snow is always lovely too..)

  2. Rachel

I love it when patterns come with previous owner notes! It is definitely some of the charm you miss out on with the electronic patterns!

I use to be solid in the Fall camp- but lately I’ve been thinking I may just be a summer girl after all!

  3. April

I love vintage patterns! Thanks for the opportunity. And I love Spring the most. New things growing, still some rain, not too hot. Just perfect!

Love the Butterick 4831! My favorite season used to be summer, but now it is a toss between spring, for the hope, and fall, for the fod.

The first snow .. can’t beat that .. ok maybe you can with strawberries or a good raspberry harvest … but the first snow is “specialer” …

My favourite time of the year is Thanksgiving (which is in October in Canada). The harvest colours, the cool (but not freezing) air and bright blue skies…. And the food! I could go for that all year. :)

Super adorable shorts, love those dresses too! My favorite… right now! I love winter, snow, Christmas, hiking around in the woods, chickadees, I love it all.

Cool vintage patterns. My favorite time of year is fall. I love the crisp air and the wonderful colors in nature. Thanks for the chance to win.

  9. Julia Perucca

My favorite time of the year is the rainy season. Love to sew watching and hearing the drops. Thanks and best wishes from Argentina!

My favorite is summertime. A time of year that has been associated with so many childhood memories HAS to be my favorite. I’m sure I’m not the only one!

  11. Stephanie

I love spring and fall both. I love the weather in general, but it is mostly that so much change happens in both seasons.

  12. Leigh

I like the days between Boxing Day and NYE inclusive. Everyone is still in holiday mode but the stress of organising Christmas, exchanging gifts etc has passed. Its also usually good weather here, hot enough for some trips to our favourite hidden beach for a swim.

My favorite time of the year was always Fall when I was growing up, I enjoyed raking the leaves with my father, and the smell of burning wood. But now that I have had my own gardens for many years now, I am a Spring person! I can’t wait to see the Crocus’s in my garden blooming, because then I know even if we get more snow, it won’t stay long and all of the gardens are coming to life! :)

My favorite season is summer. I love being out in the sunshine. It’s a time for barbecues, hanging out by the pool, sundresses and as many trips to the beach as I can get in (I’m about 4 hours away).
