Fedora Hat

DIY FEdora Hat I’m sure most of you know, but Heidi from Elegance & Elephants recently released a new sewing pattern.  It’s for a fedora hat that is stinking adorable!  I am in love with little kids in hats…they can’t get any cuter.

As soon as I received my pattern, I headed off to the thrift store to hunt down a wool coat.  I knew this pattern would be perfect to deconstruct a men’s coat and there was just enough material to squeeze the XL fedora hat pattern in the $2 sports coat I found.

I used Alida’s method of spraying sections of the hat down with hair spray to help it hold it’s flipped brim.  I also molded the sides and the top to give the hat more shape!

Let me talk a little bit about the pattern.  It. Is. Perfect.  If you have ever sewn a hat before, I’m sure you know they can be tricky, not this one though.  Heidi’s pattern is so straight forward and the directions are explained perfectly!  There are pictures to guide you throughout the instructions and the pattern pieces all come together and match up smoothly…it really is a breeze to sew up.

Take a look at all the other ladies on the pattern tour this week…I know their hats are all going to be adorable!

Fedora Hat Pattern As for me, I see many more fedora’s in my future!  When I asked Bubba what he thought of the hat…this is the expression I got.  I take it he loves his stylish new accessory!
