Several weeks ago I had the privilege to pattern test for Shannon from luvinthemommyhood. This is her Sally dress…which is a creation she sewed up way back in May for the Vintage May series over at Craftiness is Not Optional and Skirt as Top. So this is a pattern that has been in the making for some time, and the pattern shows it! There are so many options…Shannon has included instructions for a sleeveless, short sleeved, and 3/4 sleeved dress. When I saw the pattern, I knew right away I first wanted to try out the 3/4 sleeved version. Printing out the pattern pieces was a piece of cake…just two pages and there was no taping! NO TAPING!!! Waa hoo…I did a little happy dance when I saw that. PDF patterns are great but the taping that comes with them can be a bit overwhelming and so time consuming. The bodice of this pattern is pieced together in an entirely new way to me…and it was great to learn a new technique. It produces a beautiful dress on the inside hiding all of the raw edges! I sewed the Sally Dress up in a soft purple corduroy I had received from a friend and I lined it with quilters cotton. I love the finished product and so does Sweet Pea. The dress slips on and off and has these great, deep pockets on each side. I don’t know if you can tell, but I am smitten with this pattern. It produces such a cute, classic dress. I couldn’t stop myself at sewing just one. I’ll show you later this week my sleeveless version…just as cute and just as classic! The pattern is now available in Shannon’s shop…go take a look!
